Nominations for the Belfast Ultimate Awards 2008
Player Of The Year
- Adam Glover - he is a very underestimated member of the team who doesn't always get recognised
- Chris Hunter - creating and captaining the swerve and since then has made his way to uni indoor nationals with Dundee
- Garry Hughes - epic during Cork. Also played for Fusion during the Tour
- Marco - the lynchpin in guiding CHASE to both summerleague and easter tournaments
- Pete Gaston - played for Ireland at Worlds and an awesome performance at Cork
- Stephen Graham - committed and quality
Best Beginner
- Chris Hunter - see above
- Jared Cordner - a star player for Swerve and now for Dundee as well. Got into lots of trouble at Edinburgh beginners by being accused of being an experienced player (which actually he was, but only by 1 month)
- Stephen Graham - possesses a wealth of speed and agility, and has maintained this with year-round fitness training. His technical skills have improved steadily throughout the year, perfecting his full repertoire of throws. It is no coincidence that CHASE have done so well in the summer league with Greamer at the core. Greamer's enthusiasm is evident as a regular attendee at BUG and CHASE practices, which is a valuable attribute in any team member.
- Stephen Hammond - Out of all the beginners I have played with this year i think Steve has shown the greatest improvement out of them all, and he has a great willingness for the sport and to learn new skills etc...
Biggest Contribution to Belfast Ultimate
- CHASE - Seem to have fired everyone up and pushed all year to improve themselves and belfast ultimate
- David Hammond - an integral part of the organisation of CHASE and you could argue that without CHASE there wouldn't have been much growth in Belfast Ultimate. Also stepped in to organise Summer League when Pete and ob weren't around to do it (and even when ob came back!)
- ob - does loads of work behind the scenes which doesn't always get recognised- with the website etc and more, attendance at training (hack practice these days) is one of the best on the team, knowledge of the game, tactics etc is shared at training
- Pete Gaston - organises training, tournaments, books halls and organised BUG to both Disc Inferno and Cork Open
- Rob Lindsay - strengthened links with players throughout Ireland. Significant contribution in getting Queens to Irish Intervarsities
Most Spirited Player
- Adam Glover - multiple MSP winner. He is one of the friendliest, most well natured players out there. He never lets his competitive spirit cloud his sense of fair play, and love for the game.
- Luke Carlisle - for how he handled himself against calls by Ro Sham Bo at Tune-Up
